four legs. most fins removed or shrunk. big fins on back change shape and runs down into the tail. tail is shortened up, just a mess of fins dangling. dragging behind? mane hangs straight down, completely soaked. |
very quick brainstorming lore notes:
royals made her, VERY strong, too strong. she got spoiled and demanded more, eventually turned on them when she didn't get it. the royals realized they fked up and tried to kill her, it ended up with her being chased down to the lake and making a desperate escape attempt into the water. they waited days for her to resurface to finish her off, but she refused. being immortal—and powerful—meant she wasn't able to die, so she learned to adapt. she consumes the undead stuck in the water to regain power, feeds on their essence only leaving bones behind. she's been in the lake for centuries. there are so, SO many bones in this lake by now. she make noise to lure more undead into the lake, it's a haunting sound sometimes mistaken for a melody, so rumour easily spread about the siren of the lake. it's been so long she doesn't remember her name, neither does any of the kingdom's residents since the royal family really wanted to bury the memory of malady and pretend she doesn't exist. but they know she does, that siren song is all too familiar.. so they gaslight anyone questioning the sounds; "there's no siren! it's just another folktale made up to keep people away from the lake, since undead can be lurking just under the surface." some truth in that, the lake is known for hosting undead down below, but the real cause for wanting to keep people away is because malady feeding on undead is one thing, not much essence in that. but give her living blood? that's one juicy power boost the royals don't want to give her! malady was powerful, IS powerful, and they fear the day she might return. but "out of sight out of mind" they pretend it's not a problem, just keep people away from the lake while also keeping an eye on it to make sure she doesn't actually try to leave the water and come for vengeance. update: won't keep most of this, will change a lot of the details and whatnot, but I like the premise. |
